United Set To Spend The Summer In Ireland

Dundee United will head to the Republic of Ireland this summer, to begin preparations for the 2008/09 campaign.

In recent years, United have arranged pre-season tours of Holland, Germany and England, but Ireland (specifically Dublin) has always been one of the club`s preferred location.

During the 2000/01 season, Paul Sturrock took the 1st team to Dublin for a week, playing friendlies against Bohemians (L2-0), Bray Wanderers(W2-0) and St. Patrick's Athletic (W2-0).

This summer, United are heading back to Dublin (14th - 16th July), but no matches have yet been announced.

"We will be going to Dublin for a few days and will be lining up a couple of games," Craig Levein told Setanta Sports.

United currently have several Irish born players at the club, including top-scorer Noel Hunt, defender Sean Dillon, striker Jon Daly and Willo Flood (who is on-loan from Cardiff City).
