Celtic 3-2 Rangers... it`s the result which keeps Dundee United`s UEFA CUP ambitions alive.
Dundee United were almost out of the hunt for 3rd spot in the SPL, until a last gasp equaliser from captain Lee WIlkie at Fir Park last weekend.
Motherwell currently sit 1 point ahead of Craig Levein`s side, with 2 games in-hand, but both are against Rangers.
If Rangers had managed to beat Celtic at Parkhead on Sunday, then Walter Smith`s side would have top of the SPL with 3 games in-hand.
However, Rangers are now 5 points behind league leaders Celtic, and that means they probably have to beat Motherwell in both outstanding matches to climb back into top spot.
Other 3rd spot challengers Hibernian, failed to take anything away from Pittodrie last weekend, keeping United a point above the Edinburgh side.
This weekend, Motherwell face Celtic at Fir Park, Hibernian host Rangers at Easter Road and Dundee United make the trip up to Aberdeen.
It`s unlikely that Motherwell or Hibernian will take anything out of their encounters with the Old Firm sides, meaning that Dundee United could sneak back into 3rd spot - if they manage to beat Aberdeen at Pittodrie.
There is little chance that United will take any points from their other remaining matches against Rangers or Celtic, unless the title has already been decided, so the match against Aberdeen could be make-or-break for Levein`s chances of leading the club into the UEFA Cup next season.
