After playing Spanish giants Barcelona at Tannadice in a pre-season exhibition match, Dundee United will travel to Hamilton for their 1st game of the new SPL season.
Both matches will be shown live on Setanta, with Craig Levein`s side desperate to kick-start the new campaign in a positive manner.
United will travel to New Douglas Park Monday 11th of August, for an evening kick-off against the newly promoted side, in front of the television cameras.
Although, there are 2 other televised games scheduled for the same weekend, with Falkirk vs Rangers (Saturday the 9th) and Celtic vs Saint Mirren (Sunday the 10th).
The SPL haven`t granted Dundee United the easiest of starts to the new season, because the trip to Hamilton is followed by a visit from title holders Celtic and then a trip to Motherwell.
This season`s fixture schedule in completely different from previous years, because the order of opponents changes through-out the campaign.
After playing against all other 11 sides in the SPL, United will start the 2nd quarter of the season against Aberdeen and the 1st game of the 3rd quarter will be against St Mirren.
Not surprisingly, Rangers have found another reason to complain to the SPL over the fixture list, after their important Champions League qualifier was sandwiched between a trip to Pittodrie and an Old Firm derby.
