Around 100 supporters travelled to Dublin to watch Dundee United's pre-season build-up start against University College Dublin in the Belfield Bowl stadium.
Although, their loyalty went unrewarded, as a dismal performance from Craig Levein`s side ended in an embarrassing 2-1 defeat to the Eircom League side.
University College Dublin have struggled in the league recently, with Friday`s 2-0 defeat by Shamrock Rovers becoming their 7th consecutive match without a victory.
However, their fitness and determination made a crucial difference against the SPL opposition, who looked unwilling to risk injury ahead of the glamour friendly with Barcelona at Tannadice later this month.
A Noel Hunt header gave United a 1-0 lead at half-time, but University College Dublin capitalised on their fitness advantage, making many substitutions in the 2nd half.
They equalised from the penalty spot, before a late winner resulted in a deserved victory over a lack-lustred Dundee United side.
The Dundee United squad are enjoying the facility at the Citywest Hotel and Golf Complex, which is close to where 1st team players Sean Dillon, Willo Flood and Jon Daly were brought up.
