Reading Signed United's Top Goalscorer

Reading Signed United's Top Goalscorer

Reading have secured the services of Dundee United's top goalscorer Noel Hunt for an undisclosed fee.

The 25-year-old expressed an interest in joining his brother Steven at the English Championship side when rumours first linked him with the move earlier last month.

Hunt agreed a 3-year contract and will fly out to Sweden tomorrow morning to join his new club in the pre-season preparations.

The news means that Dundee United have lost another important goal scorer, after Barry Robson moved to Celtic in January.

Hunt scored 18 times for Craig Levein's side last season, but the United manager has already signed several new attacking players in preparation for losing the former Dunfermline striker.

"I'd like to wish Noel all the very best at Reading and in his future carear," admitted Levein to the Official United website.

"He has been an excellent player for Dundee United and leaves with our best wishes."

WHat are your guys opinions on Hunt? He seemed to have had a good season last year, but up and till then he looks pretty inconsistent. He sounds a bit too much like his brother for my liking - running around a lot without really doing much.

Manager rant was justified - McDonald

Weekend match-winner Scott McDonald felt manager Ray McKinnon was fully entitled to blast his players during the narrow victory against Brechin City.

United hopeful over midfielder

Dundee United remain hopeful that midfielder Scott Fraser's foot injury isn't too serious.

Striker Scott McDonald scored a vital late winner to keep Dundee United firmly setting the pace at the top of the Championship.

The Tangerines included Scott Fraser for the suspended Paul McMullan and his curled effort after moving inside was denied by goalkeeper Graeme Smith.

Both James Keatings and McDonald also threatened for hosts seeking a third consecutive league victory having previously accounted for Inverness CT and Queen of the South.

The visitors were then close
