Many people were surprised by the poor performance by Dundee United last week, as newly promoted Hamilton Accies ripped them apart in a 3-1 defeat.
Manager Craig Levein was particularly disappointed, after the positive displays he`d witnessed in the pre-season build-up, including a very impressive 45minute spell against Spanish giants Barcelona in a friendly match last month.
If Dundee United hadn`t raised their game against Celtic this weekend, then it could have been another humiliating score-line, but the players rose to the occasion and secured a deserved point in a 1-1 draw.
"I was very hopeful that we would put on a decent show today and we contributed to what was a fantastic match," admitted Craig Levein to the Setanta cameras after the match.
"Last season I could count on 1 hand the number of poor performances we had. I didn`t expect one so early this season, but the lads have bounced back in a terrific manner."
"I thought we played the game the right way. We tried to pass the ball, created some good goal scoring opportunities in the second half and we deserved a point today."
"I thought we defended very well today, but when we need Lukasz Zaluska he made a wonderful save. It looked much more like the unit I expect"
"Celtic had chances to win the game at 1-0, but overall I`m please with our performance and that`s what I must stress."
"If lady luck had been with us today, we might have got a little bit more."
