Tributes Continue For Former Club Chairman

Manager Craig Levein has been blown-away by the number of tributes that continue to come in for the late Dundee United Chairman Eddie Thompson.

Eddie Thompson passed away last week after losing a long battle with prostate cancer, with everyone at Tannadice still devastated by his passing.

"A lot of nice things have been said already and people will continue to speak about him far into the future because he was a truly remarkable man," Levein told the Daily Record this week.

"I stood alone the other day and had a look at the ever-growing number of tributes outside Tannadice."

"It was so poignant just to stand there and see all the jerseys, scarves and other forms of memorabilia laid down in his memory."

"What makes it all the more amazing is the fact that so many people who don't have Dundee United connections have taken the time to pay their last respects."

"That in itself tells you something about how Eddie touched people's hearts in different ways. Everyone in Scottish football recognises he was a pillar of the Scottish football community."

"The amount of respect and goodwill out there has been quite simply phenomenal, but he was the type of guy who would have wondered what all the fuss was about."
