Douglas ready to face the challenge

New signing Barry Douglas is ready for the challenge as he swaps his part-time status for full-time football with Dundee United.

The Arabs' latest recruit from Queen's Park joined the rest of his colleagues as the players returned for pre-season training on Friday.

And he was well aware of the personal challenges awaiting him over the next few weeks.

"I did a few sessions at Queen`s Park during the summer break to keep myself ticking over," Douglas told The Courier.

"I know the pre-season here is really tough. A few of the boys have mentioned it but they also said that it is worthwhile.

"I need to be as fit as possible to make the step up to the SPL and I know the value of working hard," he added.

"I am coming from a part-time club so bits of it will be new to me but I am quite fit anyway."
