Goodwillie ruled out of weekend tournament

Dundee United striker David Goodwillie has been ruled out of this weekend's Oban Tournament after suffering a groin strain.

The incident happened when the players reported back for pre-season training at the end of last week as Goodwillie felt his groin during their first session.

He was still struggling with the same condition today and that has led to manager Peter Houston immediately discounting him from his plans this weekend.

However, Goodwillie should still make the party leaving for their Austrian training camp next week.

Meanwhile, also missing from the Oban event will be Craig Conway (groin) and Danny Swanson (hamstring), in addition to Paul Dixon (metatarsal) and Darren Dods (cartilage).

But once again all four are expected to still make the trip to Austria.
