Former Arab on trial at Dens Park

Former Dundee United midfielder Stephen O'Donnell was one of six trialists appearing for city rivals Dundee in a 2-2 behind-closed-doors friendly draw with Hibernian.

The 26-year-old is currently a free agent after recently being released by St Mirren. And while Dundee manager Gordon Chisholm declared himself as satisfied with proceedings, he won't be making any snap decisions over his hopefuls after watching Gary Harkins score twice for the Dens Park club.

"It was a fine competitive game which was played at a good tempo for this stage of the season," Chisholm told The Courier.

"It finished 2-2, with Gary Harkins scoring both our goals, and was an ideal opportunity to see the new lads in action and the rest of the boys back in harness.

"One or two of the trialists applied themselves well but it is far too early to talk about contracts."

O'Donnell originally began his career with the Arabs and made seventeen senior league appearances before subsequent spells at Ross County (loan), Boston United and Clyde.
