 New signing targets Eastlands return

Dundee United's latest signing Filip Mentel has targeted an instant return to his former club Manchester City in the Europa League.

The 20-year-old goalkeeper signed a three-year contact at Tannadice this week and is already keenly anticipating the European adventure that awaits his new side.

"The club have great facilities and I had been watching their progress so it is a team with plenty of potential," he told the Press and Journal. "I followed their results since my trial and watched the Scottish Cup final.

"I felt like a supporter, it was brilliant to watch the players lift the cup because they had all been so good to me when I was here on my trial.

"The club has Europe to look forward to so that will be a big thing for everyone," he continued. "I`d love to get Manchester City in the competition - and beat them.

"The first task will be to get into the group stages so we`ll have to wait on the draw and take it from there."

Mentel earlier turned down an approach for his services from Polish side Legia Warsaw and will contest a starting place with his countryman Dusan Pernis this season.
