Break with tradition for Arabs

Dundee United boss Peter Houston believes that a break in tradition will help prepare his charges for their much anticipated European campaign this season.

Houston has decided upon a change to the normal format and will take the Scottish Cup winners to Austria rather than their usual destination of Ireland for their pre-season preparations.

"We've been to Ireland the last few years but I thought it would be beneficial to play some European teams this time," he told the Daily Record.

"Going away will be a new experience for a lot of our lads because few have done it before," he continued. "We're expecting difficult games against good opposition and it will give the boys a wee taste of what we're likely to face in Europe.

"We need to make sure we give ourselves the best possible chance."
