Welcome returns boost selection

The return to fitness of both Scott Robertson and Fran Sandaza is like having two new signings at the club says Dundee United chief Peter Houston.

Neither of them featured much last season after being restricted to the sidelines with groin injuries as the Arabs surged to third place in the table and the Scottish Cup.

However, both are now back in full training and offering their manager increased options as he ponders on team selection ahead of the new campaign.

"Scott is looking magnificent in training and did really well at the Oban tournament where Fran scored a couple," Houston told The Courier. "And it is like having a couple of new faces with these two.

"Fran has shed a bit of weight and we can tell by his times during the running sessions that he is in good nick," he added.

"He just needs the confidence that will come from getting back in among the goals."
