Mentel loves Arab family

Filip Mentel is already feeling well at home at Dundee United despite only spending the past few days with his new colleagues.

The Slovakian and former Manchester City keeper signed a three-year deal with the Arabs last week before joining them for their pre-season trip to Austria.

"I feel as if I have been here for years - the Dundee United lads are like a real family," he told the Daily Record.

"I was here for a week's trial and that helped me settle in. The banter has been magic and it has been a good laugh. We have bonded so quickly.

"They have all been fantastic with me. I want to make a good impression at United and I'm fully focused on doing that this season," Mentel continued.

"Things at Tannadice are different to Manchester City - but in a good way. United are a much smaller club and the atmosphere is more family orientated."
