Shala in defence of fun
Andis Shala is suddenly feeling rather comfortable in the centre of Dundee United's defence.
The German striker assumed the role during the Oban Tournament as Darren Dods is out injured and the previously on loan Andy Webster has returned to Rangers.
He then followed it up with appearances against Unirea Urziceni and Arka while the Arabs were in Austria.
And the 21-year-old forward has found that he rather enjoyed the experience.
"Housty said months ago he could imagine me as a centre-half but I wasn't sure then," Shala told the The Courier. "At the time I was only interested in fighting for my place up front.
"But we do have a lot of strikers at United, and after the games against Unirea and Arka I've come to the conclusion central defence suits me more and I want to play there now.
"I'd never played as a centre-half before the Oban tournament," he added. "But I found it fun and when I was told I'd be in there again when we were across in Austria I thought, 'All right I'm going to take on the challenge'."
