Reserves held at Bayview

 Reserves held at Bayview

Dundee United's reserves shared four goals with East Fife in an entertaining clash at Bayview.

The Arabs actually earned the lead inside two minutes when Ross McCord took advantage of a defensive mistake and fired home.

Goalscorer McCord then went close to a second after his 20-yard free-kick was tipped over by home keeper Stewart Baillie before the visitors wasted an even better chance when being awarded a penalty on ten minutes. However, Baillie got down low to his left to keep out McCord's spot-kick.

Craig Johnstone soon crashed a free-kick off the crossbar at the opposite end before the woodwork again came to the Arabs' rescue following a Stevie Hislop header.

But it was the visitors who were themselves denied by an upright early in the second period as Scott Allan shot past Baillie before the Fifers levelled on 51 minutes when Johnstone collected Hislop's knock-down and blasted in from close-range.

The Arabs went close to regaining their advantage after Paul Tansey's slip allowed Dale Hilson a clear run towards goal until he was denied by Baillie.

They did retake the lead just beyond the hour though when a clumsy challenge by Tansey on McCord gifted them a second penalty and Hilson made no mistake from the spot.

Twelve minutes from time and the scores were again level after Lee Bryce waltzed through the visitors defence and finished well past Marc McCallum to equalise.
