Striker stalls on move

 Striker stalls on move

Dundee United striker Kevin Smith is back at Tannadice after his proposed transfer to Notts County stalled at the last moment.

Smith had been expected to join the Meadow Lane club over the weekend after a successful three-week trial.

But a late hitch over the length of his contract had him returning north and featuring in the Arabs' team photocall earlier today.

"Kevin, his agent and even the county manager Craig Short were all under the impression they were talking about a two-year deal, but when he went to sign his contract it was only for a year," United manager Peter Houston told the Evening Telegraph.

"He wants two years, so he travelled back up although the deal is not dead and, hopefully, he can get something sorted out."
