Decision close on trialist defender

Decision close on trialist defender

Dundee United chief Peter Houston is edging closer to a final decision on Lithuanian trialist Irmantas Zelmikas.

The experienced 30-year-old centre-back again appeared for the Arabs during their 5-0 pre-season friendly stroll at Raith Rovers on Tuesday evening.

And Houston is set to make a final decision over him after the weekend meeting with Hull City at the KC Stadium.

"No disrespect to Raith Rovers, but Saturday will give him the kind of stiff test I`m wanting to see," Houston told the Evening Telegraph.

"We will be up against a team that has just dropped out of the Premiership down south and who will have a lot of players wanting to impress their new manager."
