Hasselbaink trials at Tannadice

Hasselbaink trials at Tannadice

Nigel Hasselbaink, nephew of former Chelsea, Leeds United and Dutch international striker Jimmy Floyd, appeared as a second-half trialist for Dundee United in their 5-0 romp at Raith Rovers on Tuesday evening.

Hasselbaink the younger is a 19-year-old midfielder or striker who is currently with PSV Eindhoven, although he did have a loan spell last season at Go Ahead Eagles.

Also making an appearance at Raith was fellow teenager Johnbull Omoregie, who has a Nigerian passport but was formerly at Norwich City.

"They are both young, but they`ve been recommended and I decided to have a look at them," manager Peter Houston told the Evening Telegraph.

"I`ll use them at Livingston tonight and that will give me a longer look and I can take things from there," he added.

"Nigel comes from the same people that unearthed Prince [Buaben] for us, so you can see why I`ve decided to bring him over."
