Houston keen to sign Zelmikas
Dundee United manager Peter Houston is keen to sign Lithuanian international trialist centre-back Irmantas Zelmikas.
Zelmikas experienced mixed fortunes at the weekend against Hull City after scoring at both ends in an unlucky 2-1 defeat at the KC Stadium.
And now Houston will discuss his situation with chairman Stephen Thompson and is expected to make him an offer early this week.
"I need to see if we have the money to bring him in so I will chat with the chairman," Houston told The Courier. "Then I have to see if he wants to come and then how much money it would cost. His experience would definitely add something to the football club."
Meanwhile, as for the Arabs' performance against Hull, Houston said they were most unfortunate to eventually lose out.
"We passed Hull to death and dominated the game," he commented. "When you look at the goals we lost, you could not legislate for them.
"The first one was a total screamer and it only came about because the ball deflected off Scott Robertson.
"The second one was dreadful bad luck," continued Houston. "The free-kick took a deflection off the wall, Irmantas has followed in like he is meant to do but Dusan pushed the ball off him."
