Young Arabs victorious

Johnny Russell scored twice as a young Dundee United XI defeated Highland League Cove Rangers 3-0 at Allan Park on Tuesday evening.

The visitors went close on five minutes when Stuart Armstrong struck an upright before Ross Smith also twice threatened to open their account. Russell then chipped over keeper Pirie after taking Lewis Swanson's through pass to earn them the lead.

And he did it again five minutes before the break as he volleyed a Michael Lee cross into the bottom corner from six-yards.

The Arabs had to wait until the final minute of the contest to add a third when Jordan Elfverson chased onto a through pass and slid his finish under the keeper.
