Lennon predicts no stage fright

New St Mirren boss Danny Lennon says that his side won't suffer any stage fright in their Scottish Premier League opener against Dundee United this weekend.

Lennon has already recruited defenders Peter Bradley and Darren McGregor, in addition to strikers Paul McQuade and Gareth Wardlaw, from his old club over the course of the summer.

However, the former Cowdenbeath supremo is backing his new charges to rise to the challenge in front of an expected 4,000-plus attendance in Paisley.

"The Dundee United game will be a big test of character for them, as it would be for any professional football player," Lennon told the Paisley Express. "It`s okay having ability and skill but the key thing at this level is how you handle the mental side of things.

"You can only give the players the platform to go out and do it. Whether or not they grab that opportunity is down to them," he added.

"For two or three of the players, it will possibly be the biggest crowd they will have ever played in front of but we`ll certainly give them the right tools to help take that pressure away from them."
