Houston imagines Lennon's success

Dundee United manager Peter Houston has tipped his opposite number at St Mirren, Danny Lennon, to be a major success.

The Arabs begin their new league campaign this weekend against the Saints, who Lennon only joined in the summer following a very successful time in charge at Cowdenbeath.

"Cowdenbeath has proved a great place for managers to learn their trade," Houston told The Courier. "Danny is the latest one to come from there and he deserves his chance at this level because he did a fantastic job at Cowdenbeath by leading them to successive promotions.

"He took them into the first division and winning promotion is the mark of a guy who knows how to manage a football team," he added. "Now he will be looking to get off to a flying start and to prove himself in the SPL.

"He has worked away down there in the lower leagues, learned his trade and built a very good team."
