Tannadice chief aims for repeat

Tannadice chief aims for repeat

Dundee United chief Peter Houston is aiming for 'at least' third place in the Scottish Premier League this season.

Should he manage that it would match his achievements of last term when he also guided the Arabs to the Scottish Cup.

"The biggest thing for me would be to finish at least third again, and see what we can get in the cup draws," Houston told BBC Scotland. "There's no reason why we can't be up there challenging in a similar position, and at least emulate that."

Houston has added only a couple of players to his ranks over the summer, with Slovakian goalkeeper Filip Mentel arriving from Manchester City and left-back Barry Douglas coming from Queen's Park.

"I'd like another centre-half, but we just can't keep bringing players in, we have to look at the financial side of it," he added. "It will [mean players will have to exit the club first], because we've brought two in and also renewed players' contracts.

"If we get into the Europa League group stage it would cancel out having to move people on. But we have to make sure the books balance."
