Houston left frustrated by opening day draw

Dundee United chief Peter Houston thought that his side should have come away with more than just a point from their opening day trip to St Mirren.

As it turned out the visitors were only saved by a late equaliser from skipper Jon Daly after their opponents had taken the lead against the run of play midway through the second period.

"I thought it was going to be one of those days. St Mirren came out of the traps quickly but we were on top for most of the game," Houston told The Scotsman. "I'm frustrated that we didn't take all three points because we had wave after wave of attacks in that second half.

"Their goal was a great shot from their lad but it was poor defending from us at a corner and all of a sudden we're a goal down," he added. "After that you're just thinking: 'Don't lose the game.'

"I thought we should have had a penalty but when I asked Brian Winter about it he said there was nothing to it."
