Daly urges caution

Dundee United skipper Jon Daly has warned his colleagues to keep on the right side of card-happy Croatian referee Marijo Strahonja against AEK Athens.

The 34-year-old official has earned something of a reputation on the continent for being rather keen on flashing cards into the faces of the players, and Daly has urged for a little caution from his team-mates.

"The referee we`ve got averages five or six yellow cards in a game so we`ve got to be aware of that," Daly told the Scottish Herald. "If he`s card happy then we can`t go flying into tackles because you could easily find yourself booked or sent off.

"It`s going to be exciting, the crowd will get the boys up for it at 100mph so you have to be careful," he continued.."I`ll have a chat with the boys before the game and I`m sure the manager will too because we can`t afford to give any silly free-kicks away.

"For a lot of us this will be our first taste of European football so it`s very exciting and we can`t wait to get started."
