Craig desperate to play

Craig desperate to play

Peter Houston says that winger Craig Conway will definitely play against AEK Athens on Thursday evening, unless Middlesbrough suddenly increase their recent offer.

The Arabs have already rejected a £600,000 bid from the Championship title hopefuls, and Houston believes the constant speculation isn't doing much to help the Scottish international.

However, he remains in no doubt that the 25-year-old was in the right frame of mind to help his colleagues try and pull back a 1-0 deficit from the first-leg.

"Craig is mentally focused and desperate to play," Houston told the Daily Record. "It's only natural he's wondering what's happening but I've told him he has to be professional.

"He's a good pro so he'll be coming with us and is in the team for Thursday," he added. "As far as I'm concerned, unless the club accept a bid between now and the game - which I don't think they will do - Craig is ready to play."

But Simon Murray equalised with fourteen minutes remaining, and with extra-time appearing increasingly probable, left-back Dixon headed a dramatic second.
