We had them rocking - Daly

Goalscorer Jon Daly says that Dundee United really had AEK Athens on the rack and deeply concerned last night.

The Scottish Cup winners were knocked out of the Europa League ahead of the group stage despite a battling 1-1 draw at the Karaiskakis Stadium.

That meant their opponents progressing through 2-1 on aggregate after they had edged the first-leg at Tannadice seven days earlier.

"They were panicking towards the end and we were unlucky not to get the right bounce of the ball," Daly told the Scottish Sun. "We knew if we got a goal we would always get a chance towards the end.

"We pushed them as they sat back and we had a couple of chances we should have done better with."

The Arabs skipper appeared as a substitute just beyond the hour and offered his side late salvation with a 78th minute equaliser on the night.

"I took a good touch for the goal but then it skipped away on the surface and it was a 50-50 with the keeper," he added. "I was never going to pull out of it so I was happy to see it go in."
