 Watch him go says Kirk

Johnny Russell can following the example of David Goodwillie and become a major force at Tannadice this season, according to Dundee United coach Gary Kirk.

The 20-year-old striker injured his ankle during pre-season but is back to full fitness now and raring to get involved after a successful loan spell at Raith Rovers last term.

And Kirk believes that he can really start to make his mark, especially with the Arabs recently releasing fellow strikers Francisco Sandaza, Damian Casalinuovo and Jennison Myrie-Williams.

"Johnny is playing in a bounce game against Hibs this week and against Forfar next week so it's a great chance to show what he can do," Kirk told the Daily Record.

"He has really kicked on from last season - going on loan has been good for him. Goodwillie was the same and hasn't looked back so Johnny can do it too."
