Duo set to work on contracts

Dundee United chairman Stephen Thompson is due to hold talks with manager Peter Houston this week to discuss his playing squad.

The pair are set to decide on which members they can afford to offer new or extended deals to - including recent Middlesbrough target Craig Conway, with Thompson hoping to extend his particular deal after talks with both the player and his agent.

"I am looking forward to sitting down with Peter when he comes back from Scotland duty to see what we can afford," Thompson told The Courier.

"The fans will be delighted that we have managed to keep all our players and we also now know the squad we will be working with until the next transfer window in January but we have to get the balance right.

"We let have let three players go but we have brought in Scott Severin and we still have a big squad by SPL standards," he continued. "We would like to keep our best players and we will be sitting down with them and their agents over time. It will be a case of seeing who wants what and whether we can agree."
