Darren hopes to take advantage

Defender Darren Dods hopes to take advantage of Dundee United's current injury problems and win back a starting place.

With Garry Kenneth ruled out against Ross County in the Co-operative Insurance Cup on Wednesday evening, Dods is set for a recall and hopes that a decent display will help him reclaim a regular start.

"I played against Forfar last week and it was good to get 90 minutes under my belt," he told the Daily Record. "I also played the week before in a bounce game against Hibs so I feel ready.

"My knee has been fine after the operation in the summer and I did most of pre-season," Dods added. "It was frustrating sitting on the bench on Saturday at Ibrox watching the goals go in.

"But now we have a few injuries it gives me a chance to push for a place again. I have had to bide my time so if I get a chance against Ross County I intend to take it."
