Striker keen to make impression
Midweek marksman David Goodwillie is keen to get one over his former playing colleague Derek McInnes this weekend.
The St Johnstone boss was skipper at Tannadice around the time that the talented Goodwillie - who scored at Ross County earlier this week - was starting to break into the senior ranks.
"I played with Derek when I first broke into the team," explained Goodwillie to The Courier. "He was always going to become a manager. In the dressing-room he was always the guy the younger ones looked up to. He was the top man. I still speak to him if I see him and have a joke with him.
"His assistant at St Johnstone, Tony Docherty, was the under-19s manager when I first joined United, then he was the reserve coach for a few years before I got into the first team," he added. "So I know the pair of them really well, although that won't come into it on Saturday. I'll be trying to win the game for United."
Meanwhile, Goodwillie has been selected for the Scotland Under-21 squad for their UEFA European Play-Off games against Iceland next month.
