Dundee United midfielder Scott Robertson remained in a philosophical mood after being denied a penalty by under-fire referee Willie Collum during the Co-operative Insurance Cup defeat at Motherwell.
The 25-year-old still believes he was brought down inside the area and should have been rewarded with a spot-kick. But he refreshingly also recognises that officials, like players, are human and prone to errors of judgment.
"I expected to hear the whistle for the foul, but Willie didn't see it that way and that's just the way it goes," Robertson told The Press and Journal. "He's seen it his way, given an honest opinion and you have to accept that. We are all human, we make mistakes and referees are no different. I must've made about five in the game just myself."
As for the game itself, which Motherwell eventually won 1-0 thanks to a very late winner, Robertson added: "We know we haven't been at our best, but we were better than when we played Motherwell in the league on Saturday. We couldn't complain about losing that one, but this time was different.
"We relied on Dusan Pernis's saves to keep us in the first game, but this was different and for most of the game I couldn't see how Motherwell were going to score. Then they did and while there were a couple of mistakes by us, we were still unlucky."
