Defender signs extension

Dundee United defender Michael Kovacevic has agreed a short-term contract extension to remain at Tannadice until at least the end of the campaign.

The 22-year-old is still to start this season after damaging knee ligaments whilst on holiday during the summer.

"This extension gives him the opportunity to prove his fitness and get back to playing regularly for the first team," manager Peter Houston told BBC Scotland.

Houston added that the player was making good progress and that he hoped to be in a permission to offer him a new deal upon his return to action.

"Should this be the case, we fully expect to be able to offer a fuller extension at the appropriate time," he confirmed. "In the meantime, the short-term extension benefits both the player and the club."
