Scott faces lengthy lay-off

 Scott faces lengthy lay-off

Dundee United defender Scott Severin looks like being out of action for around another eight weeks.

The 31-year-old former Aberdeen and Scotland international midfielder had a clearing up operation on his ankle this week that will keep him sidelined for the next couple of months.

"The operation went well. The doctors tidied up a bit of cartilage that had come loose," manager Peter Houston told BBC Scotland. "He will be out for six to eight weeks. If we can get him back for the last three or four months of the season that would be a major boost for the team."

Severin, who has also played for Hearts and Watford, joined the Tannadice club back in August.
