Striker is top of his game - Houston

David Goodwillie is enjoying the best spell of his career to date according to his manager Peter Houston.

The 22-year-old netted his sixteenth goal of the season in the tremendous 3-2 weekend victory at Rangers.

The Ibrox club had previously tried to sign him earlier in the campaign before Goodwillie agreed a one-year extension at Tannadice.

"It's the best season we've had from him at United," Houston told BBC Scotland. "But let's be honest about it, in the summer if someone comes in with a bid of seven figures he won't be at Tannadice anymore.

"I think he might have been away in the January transfer window had off-field matters not interfered," he added. "He's shown loyalty to the club by signing that extra year to give the club an opportunity to try to make some money."
