Desperate race for Dan

Desperate race for Dan

Midfielder Danny Swanson remains a real doubt for Dundee United's pre-season programme.

The 24-year-old continues to be badly affected by back problems and has recently attended hospital for a second opinion after last month's visit to the Lilleshall centre in England failed to resolve the problem.

And with the Tangerines returning to training next Monday there are already serious worries that Swanson could again be struggling.

"Wee Danny is still feeling his back so we are still trying to get to the bottom of the problem," United assistant boss Gary Kirk told the Dundee Courier. "He has been to Lilleshall to get it checked and they told him just to get on with things.

"They checked him out and said that in their opinion it was just a tightness in his hamstrings, glutes [gluteus maximus] and the bottom of the back. However, he is still affected by it so that's a worry."
