Winger signs on at Tannadice

Dundee United have signed winger Gary Mackay-Steven on a two-year deal after impressing on trial.

The 21-year-old has previously played for Airdrie, Ross County and Liverpool and featured during recent training and pre-season friendlies.

He will immediately join the squad travelling to Poland for their Europa League clash with Slask Wroclaw and would be eligible subject to the necessary paperwork being completed.

"He's a winger who has fantastic pace and skill and can deliver great crosses but he still has a lot to learn," manager Peter Houston told Dundee United's official website. "We don't play with out-and-out wingers so he would have to learn to play the way we like to but I liked what I have seen so far.

"There is great potential there and Gary has performed well in both training and pre-season. He is a welcome addition to our squad."

Meanwhile, Mackay-Steven announced on his own twitter page: "Signed for Dundee Utd today. Took longer than expected but very happy."
