Blackburn fail in Goodwillie bid

 Blackburn fail in Goodwillie bid

Blackburn Rovers are the latest club to have a bid rejected for Dundee United's in-demand striker David Goodwillie.

The offer from the Ewood Park club is understood to be worth around £1.7m and was submitted on Thursday evening.

However, that is still some way short of United's £2m asking price for the 22-year-old Scottish international who scored nineteen times last season.

SPL champions Rangers and Blackpool have already previously failed with bids.

Rovers fan here, as the name suggests. What are your thoughts on Goodwillie? Do you think he has what it takes to make it in the PL? I have seen him a few times and he looks to be a decent player, but the EPL is a big step up from the SPL.

He is due at Ewood for his medical today so we will soon seeif he will be the only striker to be signed, when the window closes. I hope we have at least one other, higher profile, striker due to sign soon. Having 3 strikers less now, than we did last season

But Simon Murray equalised with fourteen minutes remaining, and with extra-time appearing increasingly probable, left-back Dixon headed a dramatic second.

The Tangerines now play either Inverness Caledonian Thistle or Hamilton Academical
