Crazy talk from Rangers

Crazy talk from Rangers

Dundee United labelled Rangers' decision to make a late bid for striker David Goodwillie whilst he was having his Blackburn Rovers medical as "absolutely crazy."

Added to that chairman at Tannadice, Stephen Thompson, claims the SPL champions never actually forwarded a written offer for the 22-year-old Scottish international.

Goodwillie eventually joined Blackburn in a potential £2.8m deal despite five reported bid from Rangers and another from Blackpool.

"Their final bid was a great bid, there is no doubt about that," Thompson told BBC Scotland. "But the player was down having his medical at the time. It was absolutely crazy.

"It certainly felt like a saga and it was a stressful last four or five days," he added. "We took what we believe was the best offer for Dundee United Football Club. I still feel that was the best deal and so does the rest of the board."
