Easy to leave Scotland says Goodwillie

Easy to leave Scotland says Goodwillie

David Goodwillie claims it was an easy decision to select Blackburn Rovers over the likes of SPL champions Rangers after leaving Dundee United.

The Scottish international finally joined Rovers in a potential £2.8m deal despite repeated attempts from Rangers to lure him over to Ibrox.

And he admits the prospect of facing the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal played a major part in his decision.

"In the end it was not that difficult a decision, I wanted a fresh start," Goodwillie told BBC Scotland. "In the Scottish Premier League you are playing against teams like St Mirren every other week - to play against teams like Arsenal and Manchester United instead every week is just a different class.

"I think this will boost my chances of playing for the national team," he added. "I look at players like Charlie Adam and Steven Fletcher who have done well in the Premiership and they inspire you because if they can do it, you can do it too."
