Houston calms expectation

Peter Houston has tried to play down the expectation surrounding young striker Johnny Russell at Tannadice.

Following Scottish international David Goodwillie's recent move to Blackburn Rovers, the focus has since fallen onto the 21-year-old forward to step up and supply the goods.

"The fans have got to recognise that he will take a while to adapt," Houston warned BBC Scotland."But we'll work on him. The only person who won't criticise him is myself.

"One thing that is guaranteed is that he will come again because he will get all the encouragement from myself and the rest of the players."

Houston was left disappointed as visitors Dunfermline Athletic snatched a late 1-0 victory on Saturday after the hosts had missed a number of opportunities.

"The least I thought we were going to get was a draw," he added. "I can't fault the players for the effort they put into the match. But our quality, our final ball and our passing, certainly up front, should have been better."
