'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Houston praises opponents

Manager Peter Houston had words of praise for opponents Airdrie United after his side moved into the last eight of the Scottish Communities League Cup at New Broomfield.

A goal in each half from Ryan Dow and substitute Jon Daly eventually proved enough for the visitors to claim a 2-0 win in Lanarkshire.

But Houston revealed that the Diamonds always did sufficient to keep him anxious: "Airdrie were great at times. I am delighted to go through because we couldn't win coming here," he told BBC Scotland. "Our attitude was spot-on, I thought we worked very hard and we had to work hard.

"I give all the credit to Airdrie. I thought they were excellent and I was always worried about them getting an equaliser so I was delighted to see the second one go in."

The Taysiders missed out on earlier rounds due to their involvement in Europa League qualifying.
