Houston rues bad advice

Dundee United manager Peter Houston believes that nineteen-year-old midfield prospect Scott Allan has taken bad advice in turning down a new deal at Tannadice.

As a result the Scotland Under-21 international will be allowed to speak to other clubs in January. Allan has been with the Tangerines since the age of ten and is already being strongly linked with Celtic.

"We've made him a very, very good offer," Houston told BBC Scotland. "I think he's taken the wrong advice in knocking it back because Dundee United is a club where, if you're good enough, you'll get moved on anyway.

"I feel with Scotty that, after two-and-a-half games, his agent's demands put him on a par with the higher earners here and that's a wee bit rich."
