Levein criticises former club
Scotland boss Craig Levein has criticised his former club Dundee United for failing to back their manager Peter Houston sooner.
That follows the Tangerines finally confirming its support of his leadership at the weekend in the wake of a morale boosting 4-1 victory at Dunfermline Athletic.
"I'm angry because they should've come out long before now and dismissed all this nonsense," Levein told BBC Scotland. "I don't know where this has come from, but if someone behind the scenes has been briefing the press, then that's disgraceful.
"Housty has had a really difficult job this season. We built a team there but a lot of them left in the summer," he continued. "He has had to start again, almost - and he's had his wage bill cut and lost his best players. For anyone to question the job he has done there is just ridiculous."
Levein was previously in charge at Tannadice until taking over the national role in 2009.
