Houston hails new arrival

Peter Houston has hailed the arrival of former Hearts skipper Robbie Neilson to Tannadice.

The 31-year-old Scottish cap has signed until the end of the season and is set to face his former club at the weekend.

Neilson made over two hundred senior appearances for the Edinburgh club before joining Leicester City in July 2009. But he was released in the summer after an earlier loan spell at Brentford.

"He is a quality defender who can play right across the back four," Houston told United's official website. "And Robbie will be a great addition to our team. It isn't often you get the opportunity to add someone with Robbie's ability and experience to a squad at this time of the season.

"I've known him since he was a young lad at Hearts and, having played around 200 games for Hearts and also having played football in the Championship, he will bring great experience to the squad."
