Newcomer delighted at move

Dundee United's new signing Robbie Neilson is delighted with his latest move to Tannadice.

The 31-year-old ex-Hearts defender joined yesterday until the end of the season and could make his debut against his former club at the weekend. He was released by Leicester City in the summer after an earlier loan spell at Brentford.

"I got a phone call last week from Peter Houston, who I know quite well from my time at Hearts, and he gave me the opportunity to come back up to Scotland," Neilson told BBC Scotland.

"I had a few offers from England but nothing that was really appealing to me, so I am glad to be back playing in the SPL again," he continued. "My contract is until the end of the season and I just want to play well and sort something out for next season."

However, Neilson's hopes of facing his former colleagues this weekend currently rest upon him receiving international clearance in time: "I hope to get that through in the next few days and then it's up to the manager," he added.
