Houston praises defensive resolve

Peter Houston praised a resolute defence following the hard-fought 1-0 success over Hearts at Tannadice.

Midfielder Scott Robertson claimed the winner from a Jon Daly cross midway through the first-half to earn maximum points.

"Hearts are a good side and I knew we would have to dig deep," Houston told BBC Radio Scotland. "I'm delighted for the players because we've been criticised for the goals we've lost and defensively we were outstanding. We did our jobs at the back properly and the midfield worked very hard."

The Tangerines earlier handed a debut in defence to latest signing and former Hearts man Robbie Neilson.

"He found it hard going in the second half, he was blowing a bit," Houston admitted. "But I've got to say he stuck to his task well."
