Allan has Albion medical
Dundee United midfielder Scott Allan is expected to join West Bromwich Albion after a medical.
A fee has already been agreed between the clubs and the 20-year-old was set to head south despite reported interest from Rangers.
"It would turn out to be a very interesting signing if he passes the medical, which I'm sure he will," Albion manager Roy Hodgson told BBC Scotland. "If then the negotiations go well and he decides we're the club for him, we'll welcome him here with open arms."
The Taysiders are likely to receive a compensation figure of around £300,000 for the Scotland Under-21 international who is out of contract this summer.
"I think it's great to have attracted such an interesting young talent from just north of the border," Hodgson added. "I'm very hopeful, come next week, I'll be told I can welcome him to training sessions."
