Tangerines quash Swanson speculation

Dundee United have quashed speculation that sidelined midfielder Danny Swanson won't be offered a new contract this summer.

The 25-year-old has struggled for proper fitness over the past eighteen months and managed only seventeen starts since helping the Tangerines lift the Scottish Cup in May 2010.

He is currently on the way back from medial ligament damage suffered against Aberdeen in October but is out of contract at Tannadice come the end of the season.

"We've been leaving him to concentrate on getting fit," manager Peter Houston assured BBC Scotland. "But we'll definitely be speaking to him and he'll be offered a deal."

Swanson is though now finally back in contention for a recall and being considered for a starting place at home to Motherwell on Saturday.
